Golden sea moss (eucheuma cottonii) has been used as a natural superfood by Caribbean islanders for generations. Sea moss contains up to 92 of the 104 vitamins and minerals that our bodies’ need for daily metabolic function. It has been shown in studies to contain immune-boosting polysaccharides and has been used to treat respiratory illnesses. Sea moss has high levels of potassium chloride which acts as an expectorant and demulcent which removes excess mucus from the body and helps to dissolve it; making it optimal for stuffy noses from allergy season or even getting over a cold. The high levels of magnesium and potassium contribute to the muscular recovery benefits of regularly consuming sea moss.
